Thank you for your interest Chrisw 8)

I have never been to concerned with mobile phones, but more and more people are using them now to access the net, which can bring up all sorts of problems with foruming.

One of my members cannot see avatar's, but this could be due to the capabilities of his phone as well as setting's, full mode or mobile mode and many other's within the phone itself.
I only have a LG android which I use for testing purposes and find that I can view most of which is on our site.

However, one of my members has a Samsung Galaxy, a high end mobile, and any widgets we have on our site, it will not display, including one on our Blogger page. The ones on our site are my priority and does concern me somewhat, and the widgets seem to be the common problem in our case.

I have run emulator software to test this problem, but it was not conclusive enough to prove anything and I could not generate the problem. I also ran the Google Mobile Friendly test which was not favourable at all!

So all in all Confucius say....

"He who learns but does not think, is lost!
He who thinks but does not learn is in great danger."

Has, or does anyone have similar problems to this?

Your input would be greatly appreciated.

Your forum is in fact mobile friendly according to google, but make sure when you check, that you input the correct link (the link that will render the actual forum)

I am in a hurry this morning, but I'll check your site on a samsung galaxy later today. I'll also check it on iPhone.

I think it can sometimes depend on the type of phone. Mine will not play videos. But will get other things like avatars.

Hell mate, that's terrible! and I'm glad your ok, gee I'm sorry buddy, I missed that post. Seven months! that's a long time to be unconscious mate, and it must have been a shock to you when you woke up and were able to realise that seven months had passed.

I hope that you make a full recovery, if you have not already done so mate, however, the positive side of this is that you did wake up, and your back in action.

Take care magicmuggle01, and look after yourself.

It seems that the main issue here is that the later versions of androids, ipods and iphones is that they no longer support flash player, apparently some of them are using the firmware in the mobile itself, so I have read, and there are so many versions of firmware for any one particular make and model of phones, that it's hard to know from a users point of view if the phone does support flash files or not, or whether the problem is a user setting.

Apple does not support flash files at all, and neither does the Google Chrome browser. (The versions for mobiles).

Hi Wallart,

Your gift is very generous, most welcome and highly appreciated along with the link you have placed in your post, which I will no doubt use. I will put the new style to the rest of the team, and proceed from there, however we do need to change it to stay up with the times.

Good luck with your new site mate, it looks great!

Kindest Regards,

Your a slave driver Wallart!! (just Kidding)

Thanks mate,

I love the style, it looks great, but it throws the whole portal page out of alignment (not your logo) The set width of the horizontal header bars will not centre or line up. Even if I changed the widgets and image sizes, the header bars still won't line up as they remain the same size.

Ok mate, and thank you for the advice on the styles, I have some other things to tend to off site, so as soon as I have finished them, I will follow your instructions. I have Pro silver installed, but I cannot find pro silver 2 in the styles menu?

Hi Wallart,

I had to resize the logo, it was too wide, and the portal page is still not lining up, and the writing was removed prior to reading your last post, thank you for all your help, and the Icons. :?

Mmm, that's strange mate, the script is fantastic, but that throws everything out of proportion as well. I'm totally confused now, perhaps it's my monitor, it's fairly old now. I am only running 1024x768 resolution as any higher and I can't see the writing.

I have temporarily returned back to the old style and will re do all the suggestions once again mate, that's what you get when you deal with dumbo's mate.

For me it looks jusr great and the portal set right.
just change the scrip so I will see it works together.

:?: :?: :?: what happens RB. the 1300x400 sit fix there on your forum.
It look like you have local issue with the screen size.
I saw that it was fix in the main+the portal = all set right.
so it is local issue with your rig.
try to look on the site from Another rig.

here you have 1300x300 logo to try.
image (33).jpg

Well now , sorry to see that you roll back to the vista style.
Like I said it is screen resolution local issue not something else.
if you look from 1280x800 - then all looks deference,if you look from 1366x768,then all fix.
Sorry mate, that was looking good.
Yes I liked it to, what about the users who use a different resolution other than 1366x768?

Yes, Wallart, your right....again

I can run 1366x768 but I have big blank spaces top and bottom of the screen, naturally, but it gave me an opportunity to see your point, as the logo at the top of the screen were not wide enough. 87% of users on my site use 1200-1366x768 resolutions, and the minimum width is used 1200.

Most importantly, I have learned something thanks to you. Now I will go back to the drawing board again, set the new style and view it in 1366x768, using that as a reference, until can I update my monitor. Meanwhile I will have to put up with a disproportionate view on my computer.

Thank you Wallart. :D

In summary,

There are no hard a fast rules to apply with setting up web pages and the graphics resolution that you use. The auto resize will only manage the graphics determined by how it is set, but will not correct different resolution anomalies.

You cannot please every visitor who visits your site, so it's a compromise, as was in my former profession in Commercial radio electronic engineering. The best way to determine your site's resolution, is by the sites visitors stats, and your target audience, then select the resolution from there.

As Wallart mentioned above, 1366x768 is his resolution, why, because all the global statistics show that this resolution is by far the most used resolution on the web at this present time.

I have found that with the higher resolutions used today, the anomalies between the graphics resolutions are far less, resulting in less scrolling, and is far more pleasing from an aesthetic look for every visitor.

Thank you Wallart. :D

Ah, fantastic Wallart! I have seen the stats, and that's what I based my last post on, along with your very helpful assistance yesterday.

Thank you for the links mate. 8)

I already have mate, about 2 hours ago  I am still floundering at the moment but trusting your judgement, and I'm very happy with what we are achieving, and once again thank you for you advice.

My next step is to adjust the graphics on the Portal page for 1366x768. The flash sign you made is brilliant, but may I respectfully point out, that the line "We hope you will enjoy your staying on the site" should read "We hope you will enjoy your stay on the site" :)
