I don't know about anyone else but I'm looking forward to the new Star Trek Series that's to be aired in 2017.

I was wondering what peoples thoughts were about whether or not they thought that the Star Trek series of programmes had run it's course when Voyager ended. Myself has a die hard trekkie will welcome Star Trek at all times no matter what. But what do others think?

I'll be happy to see it come :). I love all the Treks. But I also love Star Wars too. I know there tend to be groups that only like one or the other but I like them both.

Not keen on having pay for a streaming on-line series, but hard-core Trekkers should really enjoy this effort here:
https://vimeo.com/channels/startrekcontinues
which extends the original 1960s series as if it had been allowed to continue. A really loving, detailed production
that captures all the endearing pomposity and hamminess of the the original, and I say that with affection and
respect.
I recommend starting with this vignette:

among the many short clips at the site, before proceeding into the full episodes.
And it's free!

Your missing something wonderful here po$ey. I would totally recommend the Star Trek films (except number 5 which I thought was the worst Star Trek film going) though the original Star Trek series is the best. And the Star Wars (first 6) films, (waiting for the new ones from Disney, so not sure about them).

You said it charlieb. I grew up watching the original Star Trek And fell in love with Star Wars when it first came out. It was a bit of a shock when Lucas sold the film making rights to Disney. I hope that Disney don't make a harsh of the franchise.

Yes, I still remember sitting down to the very first Star Trek back in the early 1960's - wondering if it was going to be innovative, or just like all the other space shows.
I was so pleasantly surprised to see how good it was, and was hooked on it ever since.
