Deactivated member removed their posts...how is that?
I deactivated a member several weeks back. I had disabled the registration as well due to someone registering with various names. I assumed it was this former member. Anyways, I opened up the registration temporarily yesterday to allow someone to register. I noticed today that all of the posts of the person whose account I deactivated are now all gone. How could they do this if their account was deactivated? Could they have summoned help from Free Forums to do this for them? Is there a way for me to see who deleted the posts on the administration panel?

Re: Deactivated member removed their posts...how is that?
Okay, so how does the support team know that member was the actual member? I have been having issues with several members fighting with each other and a couple of them harassing each other, a few who had private info on a few members. How do you know the person who claimed they wanted their posts deleted is the actual member and not the person who is causing them trouble off-line? I really feel like my board has been violated by this, and especially feeling that someone's posts have been removed makes me worry that someone else can come along, claim they are the member in question and then someone goes to my board and removes posts.

Because they supplied their password.

Re: Deactivated member removed their posts...how is that?
Hello Malibu, From the topic manic linked you too a member e-mailed support@freeforums.org asking for their account to be deleted. Once a security/ID check was passed I can only assume their account was removed. As explained by Jackal in that topic, If you have any more questions please don't hesitate to ask and we'll be happy to help.

Re: Deactivated member removed their posts...how is that?
So now this is my next question. If tech support can go into my board and remove members' posts (I wish I was asked first before they did it), why then can't they remove the administrator who began the board? The administrator left the board over a year ago. I guess she died. I am the only moderator on the board. Why can't this administrator's account be removed and have me elevated to administrator?

I guess that in your forum member's case they could verify it as the username matched with the password, however they can't apply the same verification to your missing administrator's account if she is out of contact.

Re: Deactivated member removed their posts...how is that?
This can only be done upon request of the administrator herself. She will have to request it personally to FreeForums, which would not be required, because when she is back she can make you admin herself. If FreeForums did make you admin on her forum and she would come back eventually and she no longer owns the forum, ... It's hijacking someone else her forum. Regards,

Hello, Just as po$eydoNNN* has said, it would be hijacking someone elses forum. Unfortunately a current administrator will have to give you those privelages, we can't do that for you.
