I think it's been around two, almost three months, I spent time here and on my forum I built through FreeForums. although too bad now I have to leave, I'd like to express my gratitude for the awesome service in my forum and here on support forum. you all have been very helpful. thanks so much, and keep up the good work! Not sure if this is the right place or not but, my forums has been running smooth as can be lately and thanks for all that has been done to make it so. I know I don't come with many problems with it and when I do, they're real. If I post, it's only because I can't find a cure among all the post due to those that just don't want to read and find cures for their problems.

One question though: How do I password protect my forum so that I can send those I only want to have it via PM, to log in without deleting those that only want to read and not post? I've sent dozens of emails to those reminding them in person about inactivity then, they log in and nothing else. I've deleted 52 members for this and many, I presume have either lost their internet and/or have now had restrictions placed on them due to their governments. A couple of them have passed away and for that, I just want to keep them there.

Those that have been active, I wish to PM them a password so that when they try to log in, they have to provide a PW in order to, ...log in. Can this be done?

First of all, we appreciate the positive feedback. We hope you continue to enjoy the service.

Yes you can do this, and it's a very simple process. Log into the ACP, and click the Forums tab at the top. Edit the forum you want password protected, and scroll down until you see these two options.

Forum password:
Defines a password for this forum, use the permission system in preference.

Confirm forum password:
Only needs to be set if a forum password is entered.

Fill those two fields out, hit Submit, and you're done.

I wanted to pop in and say thank you. Sadly I only really come here if I have a problem or for a bit of promotion. However I think the hand over went really smoothly and the upgrade last night was well informed and I didn't panic when my forum wouldn't load.

The little issues I did have, have all been resolved quickly.

When I first came to the support forum, I must admit, I was extremely apprehensive. So many people.

Now, though, I'm fairly confident I know my way around the forum. Thanks everyone for the kind welcome and assistance whenever I needed it, and I'm certain I'll be using freeforums until at least this time next year.

I want to give huge thanks to Sabre, Wickett, and the Tech Team for resolving all our bug reports with the new phpBB software rollout.

As a tech support guy myself, I know that troubleshooting an issue can be especially difficult when you have hundreds or even thousands of lines of code to go through, etc. But the FreeForums.org staff managed a pretty amazing turnaround time as far as I'm concerned:
-From the time the ticket was submitted to the time Sabre replied: 12 or less hours
-From the time the ticket was escalated to complete repair; less than 18 hours= PHENOMENAL!

Thanks again guys and gals- this is why I've been with FreeForums for the past 4 years- quality boards, a superior product, and an outstanding staff which we are lucky to have at our disposal.

I haven't been here long, but in the time I have been here, I've had a couple of little hiccups with my forum! Thankfully Sabre has came to the rescue and helped me where I've had little problems. I just want to show appreciation for that.

One thing I want to say is, I had a small poker forum back about 4 years ago and used another free forum provider (I won't mention names). I had to go to their support forum a few times, and if I'm honest, the support staff acted like they were above myself as well as many other members I'd saw having problems. Of course I know, that they know more than I do, but I never really appreciated how rude and condescending they could be.

The staff here are genuinely helpful and don't make you feel as though you are being a pain in the neck....even though I imagine, at times, they are repeatedly answering the same problems over and over again for diff members.

So anyways, thank you.
