 Re: Discuession: CrowdGather acquires FreeForums.org
Being a Support Staffer for this place for quite some time now, I am very optimistic about this move. The possibilities are FAR greater now, making FreeForums an even better free forum host.
Welcome Sanjay Sabnani, glad to have you here with us.

 Re: Discuession: CrowdGather acquires FreeForums.org
Can I ask are there any immediate plans for "major change" at FreeForums?

 Re: Discuession: CrowdGather acquires FreeForums.org
While I can't say for certain on this, I don't believe there will be any major changes immediately (as far as new features). Most of the work that will be done in the immediate future will be standard work along with any work towards the transition.

 Re: Discussion: CrowdGather acquires FreeForums.org
Can I ask why you guys sold to them? And should I have any fears about my forum being lost, or new ToS or anything like that?

 Re: Discussion: CrowdGather acquires FreeForums.org
A big reason for selling was to get assistance from a bigger company in taking freeforums.org's service to the next level. CrowdGather's goal is to improve the service not kill it, so you won't have to worry about your forum being lost. They are going to put a lot of resources and effort into improving this service so it's a huge win for everyone.

 Re: Discussion: CrowdGather acquires FreeForums.org
Thanks for the welcome everyone! We have some major changes planned that will effect all of your forums as well as the TOS so please pay good attention to the following:
1. You must have fun on your forum at least some of the time 2. You have to give us feedback on what we are doing once in a while 3. This site and all of our forums will be moved to better and faster servers that might unortunatey make your forums run faster 4. This list is me being silly
We are here to help provide resources to get the site run quickly and smoothly. Nothing dramatic will happen. We will also continue working with the existing support and engineering team so there does not need to be an awkward transition or learning curve. We are looking at figuring out how to get new powerful servers so that everything can run much faster.

 Re: Discussion: CrowdGather acquires FreeForums.org
OK...so now I'm relieve to hear this...All changes that look for improvements are always good, I'd say Freeforums did the best job they could with what they have, but this is what we would call evolution...I believe is not going crash on us but to improve for us... thanks freeforums for all the time and support during these times...

 Re: Discussion: CrowdGather acquires FreeForums.org
Welcome Sanjay, and that is all very good news. You see I had my forum on Proboards originally, for over a year and 60,000 posts. Then they suddenly decide to up and delete my forum without any warning. I fought it out, and eventually got it restored but not before we moved to Freeforums where we now have nearly 20,000 posts after almost 5 months time. We're quite happy here, and seeing improvements will only make it better for us

 Re: Discussion: CrowdGather acquires FreeForums.org
Hi Sanjay
Welcome and just a little question.
We pay the monthly fee for removing advertisements, will this remain the same amount. I did ask some time ago if it would be possible to pay either quarterly, half yearly or even once a year. Any of these options would help our treasurer.
Thanks
Howard

 Re: Discussion: CrowdGather acquires FreeForums.org
I moved here from a hosting service that were also bought/taken over by Crowdgather, sadly, so I'm personally not ecstatic to read this news.....
Cheers, Lynda~

 Re: Discussion: CrowdGather acquires FreeForums.org
Will we be merging onto the Crowdgather servers and if so will there be any downtime for our forums?

 Re: Discussion: CrowdGather acquires FreeForums.org
I personally love FreeForums service and assistance, I hope now with this merger that we can finally get the chat in the mod and utility linked. Can we get this feature again please?

 Re: Discussion: CrowdGather acquires FreeForums.org
Well this could be the big news that was on the table a while ago, I heard something on the grapevine and from what I heard this is the best thing that could happen to Freeforums.og & CrowdGather so we can look forward to a brighter forums for all. Thank you all Staff for the last couple of years hard work that you put into Freeforums.org and I do hope that there will be no downsizing of the staff at FF.org.
You have served this community well since you started a couple of years ago, I have never had any problems with my forums and any questions that I have asked have been answered almost stright away in terms that I could understand. So you all have a big thumbs up from me.
Well done, (Oh by the way my cut of the deal is only 15% ok?) j/k
David.

 Re: Discussion: CrowdGather acquires FreeForums.org
Will the advertising change? I hope we don't start seeing more flash based ads that take up a lot of bandwidth. This would kill smaller rural local forums like mine.

 Re: Discussion: CrowdGather acquires FreeForums.org
I hope the forums won't be packed with ads now. The reason i chose freeforums because of the ads managment, my forum has just started to pick up.
