Post [phpBB3 Tutorial] Post Approval
Hello everyone,

Today's phpBB3 Tutorial is about Post Approval, as I see quite a few people having issues with this setting.

There are two ways you can use this tutorial; you do not want your members to post freely on a certain section on your forum. Or your members are getting the message shown below and you do not want that!

You will have to change something in the permission settings, I will give you a step for step guide with an image explaining the situation. Make sure you're already in the Administration Control Panel, because the image and the numbers are from already inside the ACP. Here is the image:

Once again make sure that you're in the Administration Control Panel (ACP), from there on I will follow the numbers displayed in the picture.

[1] Make sure to select the Advanced Admin Panel.

[2] Go to the Permissions Tab.

[3] Select the Groups' Forum Permissions option on the left.

[4] Select the Registered Users Group or the group you want to restrict the access from.

[5] Select the forum you're having trouble with or you want to have limited access. Or you can also choose for All Forums.

[6] Click on Advanced Permissions.

[7] Now go to the Misc tab.

[8] There you will find the option Can post without Approval, set it to Yes or No.

[9] Now click on Apply Permissions

You've now successfully changed the "Can post without Approval" Permissions and solved your problem! However, if you set this permission to No, you're not done yet! Now I will explain on how to moderate the awaiting posts and topic awaiting approval.

Go back to your board index and to the forum you have set "Can post without Approval" to no. If there are any new topics which are posted by members of who the posts need to be approved you will see a Image behind the topic name. If you click on it, you will see the message and the options to Approve or Disapprove it.

Now go to your Moderator Control Panel, from there on we will further moderate any other topics or posts.

[1] You're now in the Moderator Control Panel (MCP).

[2] Go to the Moderation queue tab.

[3] On the left you will find the Topics awaiting approval, here are all the topics listed that are awaiting approval.

[4] On the left you will find the Posts awaiting approval, here are all the posts listed that are awaiting approval.

[5] Here you can Select a Forum, if you want to change it.

[6] Here is the list of topics/posts awaiting approval, you can view them by clicking on it (without leaving the MCP) or mark it at the end.

[7] Here you can Order the List the way you want.

[8] Once you've marked the ones you want you can here select to Approve or Disapprove them.

[9] Here you can find an extra option to Mark or Unmark all, can be very useful!

You've now moderated all Topics and Posts awaiting approval!

Regards,

Post Re: [phpBB3 Tutorial] Post Approval
I have one topic thread that is being a "problem child" for me. The post to it often need to be edited or removed, and I would like to set things so this ONE TOPIC thread needs every post approved before it posts. Is that possible?

Thanks,

thats not possible, unless you make a subforum especially for this thread, that requires posts to be moderated, or put the members who are causing their posts on there to be deleted on approval.
